【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversmeasurementsofdirectionofprincipalstrains,1and2,andthephotoelasticretardation,,usingacompensator,forthepurposeofanalyzingstrainsintransparentortranslucentplasticmaterials.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtomeasurebirefringenceandtodeterminethedifferenceofprincipalstrainsornormalstrainswhentheprincipaldirectionsdonotchangesubstantiallywithinthelightpath.Inadditiontothemethodusingacompensatordescribedinthistestmethod,othermethodsareinuse,suchasthegoniometricmethod(usingrotationoftheanalyzer)mostlyappliedformeasuringsmallretardation,andexpressingitasafractionofawavelength.Nonvisualmethodsemployingspectrophotometricmeasurementsandeliminatingthehumanjudgmentfactorarealsopossible.Testdataobtainedbythistestmethodisrelevantandappropriateforuseinengineeringdesign.ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note1ThereisnoknownISOequivalenttothistestmethod.
